Check this list of items that contain the Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals we can purchase. If you don’t see the item(s) listed here that you’re wishing to scrap, please contact us before bringing the item(s) in.

These items are acceptable if the following conditions are met:

Aerosol Cans:

  • Must be empty (no pressure and no liquids).

Appliances:

  • Must have fluid filled capacitors removed.
  • Must have certification that CFCs have been properly removed.

Barrels, Drums, Pails and Buckets:

  • Must be triple rinsed, dried and lid removed
  • Must have be free of liquids or sludge and top removed or drum is crushed.

Batteries:

  • Lead acid, not cracked and only accepted at the non-ferrous scale.
  • Only accepted at the non-ferrous department scale.

Compressed Gas Cylinders:

  • Must be devalved and cut in half.

Gas Tanks:

  • Must have visible 8” x 8” hole and be dry.

Propane Cylinders:

  • Must be de-valved and only accepted when presented at the front scale.

Tanks:

  • Above ground & underground storage tanks must be drained with a 6” hole, have no liquids or sludge, and no combustible vapors
  • Larger than 100 gallon must have 3 ft. hole

Transformers:

  • Must be drained and have a letter verifying no PCBs are present.

Vehicles:

  • Title required
  • Must have certification that CFCs have been properly removed.
  • Must have lead acid battery and mercury switches removed.
  • Must have accessible wheel weights removed.
  • Must have fuel tank removed or drained with a 6” hole visible.
  • Must have antifreeze, oil, and transmission fluid removed.

The following items are considered unacceptable – we can neither purchase nor recycle:

  • Acetylene cylinders
  • Asbestos containing material (i.e. insulated pipe and transite concrete fiber board)
  • Backup power supply units
  • Ballasts
  • Borings
  • Capacitors
  • Cathode ray tubes
  • Closed compressed gas cylinders
  • Closed containers of any kind
  • Computer Monitors, Parts or Accessories
  • Containers with free-flowing liquids inside or outside (tar, oil, gasoline)
  • Household Electronic Scrap
  • Items containing Mercury
  • Flammable or combustible material
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Fluorescent light ballasts
  • Material containing refrigerants
  • Munitions, bullets, military target range scrap, explosives
  • Microwave ovens
  • Oily Scrap
  • Paint cans
  • Pressure regulating valves
  • Radioactive material
  • Thermometers
  • Thermostats
  • Trash
  • Turnings
  • TV’s
  • Wood
